About

The house on the corner has been a place to eat since the 1950s: a butcher's canteen first, then a fish restaurant, then, for a long while, nothing at all. Lotte and Wout took it over in 2017 with a second-hand stove and a plan to cook the food they grew up on.

The kitchen

Lotte trained in Bruges and spent six years in brasseries in Lyon before coming home. Her cooking is Flemish at heart and unfussy on the plate: slow stews, proper stock, grey shrimp peeled by someone who knows how. The card is short so that everything on it can be right.

The bar

Wout looks after a list of around thirty wines, mostly from small growers in France and Germany, and a shelf of Belgian beers he will happily talk you through. There is always something open by the glass.

The neighbours

Our vegetables come from a market garden in Lochristi, our meat from a butcher in Deinze, our bread from the bakery two streets away. If you see something you like, ask us where it came from.
